Here you will find a selection of pictures by photographer Göran Altstedt. I was born in 1971, with photography as a part of a lifelong interest in nature and especially birds. For about 20 years I have been trying to get pictures of birds, together with mammals, insects, orchids etc. Big parts of my picture library are slides, but since about 5 years I have been shooting with a digital SLR. At the moment I use a Canon EOS 1D Mark II N together with several lenses, flash and accessories. For a couple of years, some of my pictures could be found at David Tiplings Windrush.
A major part of the photos are from trips around the world. So far more than 20 countries have been visited. About 1500 species of birds has been photographed, along with mammals, insects, amphibians etc. At the moment, my favorite destinations are in South America. In Sweden, where I live close to the sea in Nyköping, I often visit the beautiful archipelago. The island Gotland has also become a favorite the last years.
The name Exulans comes from one of my favorite birds – Wandering Albatross (Diomedea exulans). To experience the encounter with these incredible birds is something everyone should do!
With my Canon EOS 1D Mark II N camera I use the following lenses: 500 mm, 300 mm, 70-200 mm zoom, 100 mm macro, 17-40 mm zoom and extenders. I also use flash with "Betterbeamer" extender and other accessories.
Have a look around and enjoy the pictures!
